A degree of uncertainty..
In amongst all the hyperbole surrounding the ‘three amigos’ going north of the border to support the ‘NO’ campaign, an interesting story is emerging today regarding the changing shape of the UK economy.
The OECD has published its annual ‘Education at a Glance’ report today which contains details that for the first time in the UK, people of working age are more likely to have a degree than purely school based qualifications. It means that the UK has the highest proportion of adults with graduate level qualifications in the EU, and globally is only surpassed by a handful of countries including South Korea and Japan.
The devil is of course in the detail and there are other worrying parts of the survey looking at skills gaps and the high cost of university degrees; but overall it has to be a positive that we finally seem to be prioritising the development of our people as a tool to move the country forward.
That reminds me….must submit our ‘Investor’s in People’ renewal……..
